Some surprises in the World Cup. Some surprises in the RSCSL too. The mighty Brazilians have been humbled just as the mighty Mount Rose Chuters have tumbled. The clockwork orange that is the Dutch national team have clicked into high gear and closer to home the fortunes of our very own orange clad Chaingang have shifted as they recorded their first victory of the season. That is where I will cease to draw parallels between South Africa 2010 and Reno 2010.

Once again I have seen my own chances of personal fortune subside with the demise of samba soccer but at least we are now free of Brazilian hype and the blind adoration blessed upon them by ESPN commentators. With the anguished Argentineans now also residing in the dugout of broken dreams the World Cup will remain in Europe especially as the Uruguayan good fortune finally faded. Has a deliberate handball on the goal line ever paid such dividends?

With the final now set I just wanted to remind you that many members of the league and others will be gathering at South Valley on Sunday morning at 9am for a pick up game before moving on to enjoy the final together at Lamppost Pizza.

A smaller gathering of those associated with the league will be gathering at South Valley on Friday afternoon at about 1:30pm to work on rotating the fields. Anyone who wants to expand those ranks is welcome to come on down….

Game Postponement Policy

Although I am now optimistic that the questionable weather is behind us it is advised that you check your email at 3pm on a game day just in case a postponement has to be announced.

By the way good weather is now defined as anything above 32 degrees Fahrenheit, wind speeds below 50 mph with precipitation of any kind and intensity acceptable.
