Marvelous Mori’s “MESSI”anic Miracle
The final “regular” season games threatened upsets left, right, upper, lower and centre but after 90 minutes the status quo prevailed to thwart the dreams and delusions of many as the results took on a familiar tone. On top Lift ‘n Pints vs. AARP bragged the headline grabber as modest Mori ended a seven season goal drought with an exquisite chip even Messi would have been proud of to keep the Pints joint top on points with the Mooners. It took the Wright Stuff 14 grueling games to get off the bottom of the table: their 6-2 mauling of the Chaingang elevated them to the heady heights of 7th in the table and left many wondering just exactly what the offside rule really is. Sometimes known as the Jimmy Hoffaside it left Chaingang keeper Jim Keller considering homicide.  Down under the Mooners clawed themselves back from a 2-0 deficit as the Peppers aimed for Tahoe’s wayward seagulls rather than the net, while the Pepper’s aging keeper forgot his anemometer flapping in the wind late in the game. Across on LSV1 a cranky ill-tempered clash boiled over into crowd trouble at the Kop end but ultimately went according to current form as the Chuters held on for a 2-1 victory. And so goes our 7th regular season, the play offs beckon along with the plastic meadows of indoor soccer.

On a final note – we have had great turn outs at Lamppost but it would be great to see a few more faces over the next few weeks.
