Blue Moon Rising
After their successful siege of Fort Reno High School, the intrepid and ruthless Vlad the Impaler and his Visigothic comrades next take on the not-to-be-dismissed Mt Rose Chuters, who also lay claim to another high flying Romanian sharpshooter – Mircea the Miraculous. Will it be Moon over Bucharest ? Or maybe will the Moon set once and for all behind that still snowy peak of Mt. Rose ? These are questions that can only be answered on the 26th around 8pm. Meanwhile, at the other end of the table the Wright Stuff have got to come up with a formula otherwise they will be facing relegation to the Carson City Coed League before you can get a Washoe wind advisory posted. And as they say, bottom on Memorial Day, and it is one short trip down Slide Mountain .

Speaking of relegation…..

Hanging on in Quiet Desperation is the English Way ….

This past weekend had to be one of the most anxiety-ridden days in the UK since, I was going to say the Blitz, but I will change that to half-time at last year’s World Cup clash between England and Germany . With the incredibly lucky Manchester United sealing the EPL title the previous weekend, attention turned to relegation battle for the last week of the season. Two of five teams faced the drop to the abyss that is the Championship; a place where perky prawn sandwiches are replaced by soggy not so perky pork pies on the half-time menu. Only two of those teams were in control of their own destiny - and they were playing each other, it was chomping to the quick time alright. Curiously, what this amounts to is effectively a celebration of failure. The anxiety that could be felt around the football grounds of England last Sunday was something American sports fans have absolutely no concept off whatsoever. Have a bad season in the happy-go-lucky USA and you get rewarded with a good draft pick. Have a bad season in the measurably miserable good ol’ UK and you are punished – trips to the Theatre of Dreams are replaced with a cold-damp afternoon atop the Yorkshire Moors where you only have Heathcliff for company on the terraces. Now that I have lost almost 100% of my audience and I will say all this made for some of the most compelling drama and television since my Wednesday mornings on KOLO 8 TV….

Thought I’d Something More to Say
