Bemused, Baffled, Bewildered and Buehlered

As the Chili Peppers faced the Grimm reality of a humiliating defeat, the Blue Mooners’ Brian Buehler faced the reality that he alone found a way to break all the laws of the space-time continuum with a miss that had to be witnessed to be believed. Inches from a goal line devoid of defenders Brian hit a high fly ball into the neighboring Little League game that left the dumbstruck provider Marco Merlo(t) aging faster than a fine red wine. Meanwhile the Pink Panthers were on the wrong end of a Chute-out while the Chaingang finally broke free of their shackles to condemn the luckless Wright Stuff to having to mount the biggest second half of the season comeback in the history of the league. Down at Fort Reno Lift ‘n Pints continued to get their title challenge back on track sending AARP toppling to the top of the silver bracket. A divide of tectonic proportions is now emerging between the gold and silver brackets but stranger things have happened. European vacations could yet be the downfall of the Hapsburg Empire, although only one more point (from a possible 21) will guarantee the much feared Blue Mooners a chance to reclaim the cherished Dunning Cup plus a chance for Brian to disrupt even more Little League games.

In the Heat of the Night

As we now commence the second half of the regular season it looks like the temperature at kick-off will finally exceed the speed limit; I am talking freeway not school zone. So it is time to call me Mr.Tibbs, break out the Ray Bans, lather on the Coppertone and put those leggings away until at least Halloween.

Official Switch to South Valley Solidified

June 23rd will mark the first games at South Valley for all teams.

New Game in Town

A new soccer store – Soccer City - has opened at Shopper’s Square (Plumb & Virginia). I sent out coupons that are good until end of June. Check it out.

A Day That Will Live in Infamy - June 30th 2011

Prior to the kick off of the June 30th games there will be a race (the length of a soccer field), originating from foolish post-game comments at Coney Island . There are currently two official entrants Andrew “Atomic” Tolley and Shelly “Galloping” Gamble, both of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both contestants are apparently supremely confident of an outcome in their favor but a majority, somewhat misguided I might add, seem to think Tolley is dead in the water. They must have missed last year’s extravaganza when the English thoroughbred shocked the Reno sprinting community with a comprehensive demolition of the field. Granted this race is between an almost 54 year colt (some say Nag) and a filly in her physical prime but there are those who know this is no foregone conclusion. Field Marshall Andrew Dunning will be overseeing race day events and is also organizing a charity book. Mark your calendars, it is gonna be like Seabiscuit – but just who is Seabiscuit?
