June 9th - Every Pitch Tells A  Story

It ain’t over until it is over, so the saying goes. It appears the Wright Stuff believe. After a fruitless first half of the season and as if responding to the previous edition of the Goalpost  the Wright Stuff finally got their first “W” on the board upsetting the always formidable Lift ‘n Pints with a 1-0 victory. One field over it would be easy to think the Chili Peppers do think it is over, capitulating 8-1 to the red hot Mt Rose Chuters who propelled themselves to the dizzy heights of the table. Meanwhile the Chili Peppers are seriously reconsidering their “let’s play no midfield and no defense” tactics. Move one more field over to find the game of the season. The Panthers and Mooners got into a ding-dong affair. Every time I looked over while picking the ball out of the Chili Peppers net I saw the Panthers giving the Mooners a taste of their own medicine but I was apparently seeing the edited version, 5 Panthers goals were not enough to shoot the Moon, who amassed an impressive 7. Quite a few fields down at Reno High School AARP sentenced the Chaingang to another weekend of litter patrol continuing to keep their hopes of drinking from the sacred chalice (the DC) alive.

June 16th - Once In A Blue Moaner

Last week saw the mighty Blue Mooners eclipsed by the always improving Chaingang. Both teams were missing star players but in close fought battle the Chaingang denied the Blue Moaners a perfect season – the absence of many of the Sky Blue at the bar afterwards was noted. Meanwhile the Chili Peppers gave Lift ‘n Pints a scare, only a blooper reel quality error by the Peppers’ keeper allowed the Pints to close in on the stumbling Moaners. A feisty affair on NV3 saw the Wright Stuff continue their renaissance as they held the in form Chuters to a tension filled 2-2 tie. Down at Reno High the Panthers also made ground on the Moaners with a convincing victory over AARP who eagerly await the return of the Duffy clan. Parity is somewhat restored.
