The Mother of All Coed Soccer Newsletters

Happy New Year

It maybe hard to believe but the commencement of the RSCSL’s 7th season is less than 4 months away. Yes, before you can say “Robert Green has fumbled the ball,” it will be time to shuffle the teams and begin frolicking in the frosty meadows of North Valley Regional Park and Reno High School. You may want to check that your thermal underwear is match fit.

The mighty muscles of the RSCSL are beginning to flex once again and emails will begin to arrive thick and fast. For the moment you should know that it is our intention to open registration by mid-February (maybe sooner). As always, returning players will be given a head start to register before registration is open to the aging soccer public at large (or is that the large aging soccer public?). Watch this space for the announcement of the exact day registration opens.

Unless field availability miraculously expands the league will continue with 8 teams and the same schedule will remain in place – Thursday evenings from mid-April until the end of August with the occasional break. After listening to feedback, modifications to the substitute process and play off system will be made. I genuinely believe that these adjustments will defuse all those controversies that seem to arise toward the end of the season.

If you have any interest in participating in the league’s functioning, sponsorship etc. or ideas for the continued development of the league feel free to contact me.

(Andrew 787-2861,

Although this is far from concrete I am working on the creation of an open age outdoor coed division for all you soccer junkies out there. This is very much a work in progress and a lot depends on the demand and discussions I plan to initiate with the GBYSL and the County. If it happens, it would be organized differently than the senior division and be played on a separate day.

So start getting your boots polished, hair done, goal celebrations choreographed and body ready for another season of heart stopping and heart warming thrills and spills.

PS – Tottenham Hotspur is poised for greatness.
