A Wee Bit Rushed

Ok, before I get we are ALL at South Valley now. And then afterwards we shall convene for revitalization at Lamppost Pizza. For those new folk, Lamppost Pizza is on the other side of 395 from South Valley near the Home Depot and RC Willey. It is very family friendly; school is out so there are few excuses not to come by.

After our last Thursday at NV and Reno High it is apparent from the results that, for the most part, everything hinges on a little luck here, a lady from Truckee there, and a referee call everywhere. No game was decided by more than two goals; which must be testimony to something; maybe to Roger Clemens’ innocence or the fact that finally England catches a break. The bottom line however, is the defensive prowess of the Chaingang. Anchored by the Great Walls of Cork & York, the Chaingang registered yet another cleansheet (shutout) and have finally put a little daylight between them and the anxious pack nipping at their heels.

Pink Panther Girl Power Beats Bhoys & Ghirls Power

Another impressive performance by the Panthers sees them edge further up the table, this time at the expense of the much fancied Bhoys & Ghirls. It all started so promising for the BGs when McScott McAndrew rose majestically to meet Andy Bowser’s cross. A devastating header from the top of the box completely wrong footed the keeper. Delirious with excitement about scoring a header, McAndrew was already texting his kids when his teammates broke the news – wrong end buddy, 1-0 Panthers. Twas only a few wee minutes before the increasingly prolific McScott McMorton had tied things up, but that was a mere cue for the gals from Truckee to start running the show. Tireless work from Park and Prochazka resulted in a trilogy of goals for the latter – the comfortable tap-in, the exquisitely placed header and the clinically executed penalty kick put the game to bed before the BGs knew what was happening. McMorton’s second was mere consolation.

 And in the other games…

A four goal burst from Hartley, Gardner & Brewer (sounds like a law firm) drove a stake through the hearts of the Blue Mooners to lift the Pints back into contention. Delicate moves from King Krueger and, by all reports, a wonder goal for Mike “Peter Crouch” Reynolds planted the Chaingang firmly at the top of the table while relegating the ‘Canes to mid-table mediocrity. A seven goal thriller down at Santi’s farm reversed Team 6 Pack’s recent fortunes and left the always competitive Wright Stuff wondering just what they have done in former seasons to deserve their run of misfortune.

League Alumni Klaus Grimm Puts out a Challenge to all you RVPs Out There

One of the league’s all time top scorers is offering $2 a goal, with one his mates chipping in another $1 per goal - which means we are at $3 a goal for charity this season. You can make a pledge too – something per goal, a favorite team mate, a flat fee, your personal goals - you name it. Make your pledge known to me ( and I will keep Klaus in the loop. Last year we wound up raising over $1500. Let’s try to top it in2012. As of 6/15/2012 176 goals scored (that’s $528).
